Lindsay Lohan’s estranged father, Michael, feels bad about criticizing her girlfriend, Samantha Ronson. “I definitely regret all the things I said about Samantha,” he said at a book party on October 21. “I’m a Christian. I should not pass judgment on anyone.” In September, he’d e-mailed a gossip Website, calling Ronson “dark, hideous, and a disgusting representation of humanity.” He explained that he’d received a phone call expressing “really serious concerns” about Ronson, and that he e-mailed the Website in an effort to “reach out” to his daughter. “In the past, I felt that the best way to get to her was to speak out publicly,” he said. “And it was the wrong choice.” He and Lindsay talk these days, he said, and he was just back from a four-day visit with his noncelebrity son, Michael. But he won’t say any more than that. “Family matters should be kept private,” he said. “I’ve learned that now.”
