Elizabeth Peyton painted Michelle and Sasha Obama Listening to Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention August 2008 from an existing image (as is often the artist’s habit). It wasn’t originally one of the 104 works in the current New Museum survey, which opened October 8. But if Obama wins, it’ll likely go up November 5, as a sort of homage. Of course, if he doesn’t win, it won’t.
