At a benefit for the Kitchen, Jada Yuan talked about experimental art with designers Phillip Lim and Richard Chai.
What’s the weirdest experimental art you’ve seen in the city?
PL: At the New Museum I saw—oh, we were there together—this lady, just sleeping there.
RC: Oh, yeah!
PL: That was performance art. She was just sleeping and everyone was just walking by her, looking at her nap time.
RC: It made me realize, It’s nice someone has that much time. I’ve got to get back to work.
PL: It was like "Sleeping Through the Arts."
RC: At first we thought that she was sick or that she must have fainted.
PL: We panicked. We were like, "Someone's got to call 911!"
RC: And then we figured it out. I think it made me realize I probably need more sleep.
And?
RC: I went home and took a nap.
