An oldie but goodie, this progressive courtyard dance series is in its fourteenth year commingling art, fashionable people, and even more fashionable musical acts. This Saturday’s Francophile roster includes electro-artist Joakim and the psychedelic stylings of Koudlam, while July 23 features a D.J. set by Gang Gang Dance and a performance by Syd tha Kyd of Odd Future. A ticket includes admission to the museum, but get there early: This one tends to fill up fast and stay that way until the last beat is dropped.

Mister Sunday

Later this month they have Horse Meat disco packing the dance floor, but this weekend Mister Saturday Night’s Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin promise a very special—and rare to NYC—guest at their weekly daytime dance party on the Gowanus Canal, complete with disco dance ball and food from purveyors like Mile End. Kids get free entry, as do dogs (on leashes), and bug spray is highly recommended.

Midsummer Night Swing

It’s the last weekend for Lincoln Center’s popular series, where a ticket scores hoofers a group dance class, then a night under the stars where you can show off your new moves. This Saturday, the series takes it back to its namesake with a swing lesson and a performance by the Harlem Renaissance Orchestra.

Select Summer Fridays

For shaking it up-top, the views don’t get better than the debauchery at the bi-level rooftop club Le Bain at the Standard Hotel. Glass walls downstairs and a faux-grass-covered rooftop host events like nightlife denizen Susanne Bartsch’s skin-exposure-encouraged “On Top“ Tuesday nights and Select Summer Fridays with Jules Kim & Katie Longmyer.

Gansevoort Summer Series

This summer, the usually private Gansevoort Park rooftop pool lets the public in on Sundays for a free house and trance dance series with notable D.J.’s like Paul Oakenfold and Sharam. This Sunday’s guest is Dirty Dutch, who can claim Fatboy Slim as a fan. It’s free, but RSVP is required, and don’t forget to watch your step as you dance around the pool.

Tiki Disco

For a no-cover vacation in Bushwick every other Sunday through September (the next one is July 24), check out Roberta’s for a dance party in their outdoor farm. Frozen drinks, sangria, and cheap beer are served to cool you down while a roster of local D.J.’s spin seventies beats to heat you up, or at least encourage you to sway.

Paul McCartney

He played the inaugural show at Citi Field in 2009 and Shea Stadium in both 1965 and 2008; now Macca performs in the Bronx, with a set list spanning 50 years.

The recently reunited dance-punk duo first bulldoze your ears with noise then hold your body captive with urgent rhythm.

Wiz Khalifa

Repetition has been good for the “Black and Yellow” rapper, who just picked up the Best New Artist honor at this year’s BET awards. He’s outdoors with Big Sean and Chevy Woods.

If Scott Weiland can keep his onstage rants to a minimum, this should be a pleasant night of nostalgia courtesy of the nineties rockers, who last year released their first album in a decade.

The indefatigable 64-year-old punk queen plays a free River to River show. Tickets are first-come-first-serve and are available beginning at 5 p.m. (Also, we probably don’t have to tell you this, but you should get there early.)

Ladies rule the outdoors when Portland-based singer-songwriter Merrill Garbus is joined by Katie Stelmanis and the gothic, mood-altering pulsing beats of her band, Austra.

The Swedish Grammy nominees have been around since 2002, but they’ve only recently begun to perform their gauzy synth pop Stateside, last year being the first time. With Asobi Seksu.

4Knots Festival

The former Siren Fest has changed names and boroughs but still delivers a stellar cast for the low, low price of free. This year it’s a tourist-friendly lineup of Black Angels, Davila 66, Titus Andronicus, Oberhofer, Mr. Dream, and so much more.

Ezra Jack Keats Family Concert

Grammy-winning Dan Zanes & Friends returns for the annual show, with special guests including Andrew Bird, the Brooklyn Youth Orchestra, and dancers from the Bed Stuy Veterans.
