New York Distilling Co. Celebrates One Year

On December 5 The NY Distilling Co .and it's sister bar The Shanty turn one year old. It's also the anniversary of Repeal Day. Yay! Celebrate with Night Distilling, where a finishing run of rye whiskey will be distilled to observe and taste (the first time ever open to the public), hot punches, the chance to win a personalized barrel of rye, and, most importantly, fundraising for The Brooklyn Recovery Fund. Each partygoer will also receive a 375 ml bottle of unaged rye. Tickets, $125, can be bought here.
Sidebar Hosts Rockaways Guest Bartenders

From November 30th through the holiday season, every Friday night SideBar will host guest bartenders from the hard-hit Rockaways who's home bars remain closed and are unable to work. The guest bartenders will take home all of their tips and 10% of the bar.

As part of their “Help Rebuild Brooklyn” campaign, the Kings County bar will donate $1.00 from every beer sold to the Red Cross Hurricane Sandy Relief. You can also donate needed items like baby food, diapers, canned goods, clothing, and feminine hygiene products during business hours.

Hot Bread Almacen

Over the course of this week, Hot Bread Almacen in Harlem is offering its customers bread at "pay-what-you-can" prices. The nonprofit, which provides jobs and economic empowerment for the community, is itself holding a fund-raiser for its programs on Thursday, and is also offering bread donations to Sandy-relief organizations that are able to pick up the bread at Hot Bread Kitchen; please e-mail Rachael Nemeth (firstname.lastname@example.org) for details.

Cubana Social has joined forces with the Hester Street Collaborative to assist the Lower East Side and Chinatown's elderly and disabled residents stuck in housing developments by doubling as a drop-off point for donations (food, water, batteries, flashlights, generators). In addition to continuing to serve food, Cubana Social will be donating a portion of sales and tips to Sandy relief. Cubana Social is is open daily from 10 a.m. to midnight and until 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Red Hook Vendors
The Red Hook Vendors are raising money to deliver 1,000 meals to temporarily displaced residents of the neighborhood on November 10. In order to do this, they need to raise $4,800 by Saturday. Click here to donate.
