Also a stone's throw from the main event, (un)SCENE bucks the traditional viewing corral, showcasing instead performance art, installations, painting, sculpture, and participatory pieces, meaning you can get in on the action.

Art on Paper

Admission: $25
Not just art on paper, but art made with paper, which, with a little imagination, encompasses quite a range. You'll find sculpture, drawing, painting, and photography.

Moving Image New York

Clio Art Fair

By the people, for the people, and billing itself as "The Anti-Fair for Independent Artists," the Clio aims to thwart the system through representing independent artists not exclusively attached to a New York gallery.

New City Art Fair
529 W. 20th St., nr. Twelfth Ave.
Dates: 3/5-3/7, noon–7 p.m.; 3/8, noon-6 p.m.
Admission: Free
Japanese contemporary art is the focus of this boutique fair, housing eight galleries for its fourth occurrence in New York.

On the Edge of Fusion

Dates: 3/2-3/6, 6 p.m.-9 p.m.

If you find yourself uptown, the West Harlem Art Fund has partnered with Armory Week for this “digi-salon” with live installations. Digital works can also be viewed at home, but note, if you show up IRL, don’t forget your smartphone, tablet, or laptop—they’ll be needed to assist.

Salon Zürcher

This free, intimate fair provides respite from the crowds. Seven galleries are included, representing New York, Beijing, and the U.K.
