Weekend Agenda

Events to check out this weekend, April 24–26.

Vijay Iyer

1. We’re sad Big Terrific is ending, but happy that it means good, comedic things for all three original hosts. See them go out in glory this Sunday with two shows at the Warsaw.

2. And with every ending, there is a beginning. This weekend that beginning is the season opening of the Seaport Museum on Saturday, with a seaport scavenger hunt and more.

3. Saturday is also the return of the Red Hook Criterium Championship Series (a criterium is a short-course bike race), in Red Hook. If you're not up for navigating those hairpin turns yourself, you can watch all the action for free.

4. Or watch athletes of a different stripe with the Mark Morris Dance Group at BAM.

5. At Jazz Standard, the Vijay Iyer Trio rounds out their residency, through Sunday, with multiple shows per night.

6. While up at the Apollo, John Mellencamp sings diddies about Jack and Diane on Thursday and Friday, with special guest Carlene Carter.

7. The '90s are alive and well with Speedy Ortiz, who play Bowery on Saturday.

8. Or on Friday, be a part of a true interactive music experience involving Björk's string section, the composer for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and you, at the Sheen Center.

9. Over at the NYPL, author Per Petterson discusses friendship, fiction, and the passage of time on Friday

10. While at Symphony Space on Saturday, they're celebrating Johnny Cash with a free concert, and on Sunday they're doing the same for the 30th anniversary of The Breakfast Club, with a special screening and bonus content. Happy weekend!
