Weekend Agenda

Events to check out this weekend, May 11 to 14.

See Bob the Drag Queen at Sasheer Zamata Party Time! Sunday at the Bell House.

1. Sunday is Mother’s Day. If you have yet to make plans, we’ve got some events suggestions, plus some restaurant ideas that mom will love.

2. Or you can start celebrating early at outdoor bar Nowadays, which reopens for the season on Thursday. On Saturday, they'll have the first of a new weekly pig roast, and Sunday is the season opener of the Mister Sunday dance party, where Mom gets in free.

3. Father John Misty is at Brooklyn Steel Thursday and Friday, with guest Adam Green.

4. And be reminded to phone home when the New York Philharmonic plays John Williams's E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial score live alongside screenings of the movie on Friday and Saturday.

5. Sample a selection of 175 wines and light bites at the Brooklyn Crush Wine Festival on Saturday at Industry City.

6. And if you're more of a craft-beer person, hit the Well on Friday for the Five Boro Craft Beer Fest with unlimited tastings from 50 breweries plus fare from local restaurants.

7. Make it an Enda Walsh–themed weekend. The Irish playwright (and co-writer of David Bowie's “Lazarus”) has two pieces simultaneously running: the dance-, music-, and video-based Arlington at St. Ann's Warehouse and the haunting immersive installation Rooms at the Irish Arts Center.

8. And on Sunday, Scottish rockers Jesus and Mary Chain perform at Brooklyn Steel in support of Damage and Joy, their first album in 19 years.

9. The Red Bull Music Academy once again has a trio of excellent events this weekend: On Thursday is a tribute to disco and soul star Patrick Adams, on Saturday get familiar with GQOM, South Africa's newest style of dance music, and on Sunday celebrate America's queer underground dance scene with a 12-hour party at Trade Show USA.

10. And on Sunday, if you can't be with your mom, join SNL star Sasheer Zamata and hers at Sasheer Zamata Party Time!. Also on the roster: Molly Austin, Michelle Wolf, and RuPaul's Drag Race winner Bob the Drag Queen. Show up early if you want a seat, and happy weekend!
