Bklyn Yard
Offering the same alfresco industrial grooviness as P.S.1’s Warm Up party, but on a much smaller scale (and sometimes with water balloons), Bklyn Yard makes excellent use of its grassy location alongside the Gowanus Canal. Kids are encouraged to run amok, throw pebbles into the water, and try out some next-gen dance moves.
East River Bar
This down-by-the-bridge outpost has long shed the trappings of its previous incarnation as an illicit Latino speakeasy. When the weather's nice, the concrete patio is a family-friendly haven where a diverse set of tykes buzz about while parents cook BYOBBQ on the grill.
Habana Outpost
Eco-friendly Fort Greene parents teach their little ones all about environmental responsibility at this brightly-colored boho cafe. Recycled lumber picnic benches and the art-adorned outdoor patio gives everyone a place to play.
Soda Bar
With the best backyard and jukebox in the neighborhood, Soda combines the scruffiness of a rock club with the laid-back comfort of your average brownstone living room. Family friendly fare like BLTs and burgers don’t hurt.
Union Hall
From the two indoor bocce courts to the stuffed curiosities in the downstairs cabinet, there’s plenty to keep the little ones occupied while the grownups slink off for a drink. Loads of space means they won't get underfoot.
