This movie is a musical, but you're not a musical guy.
“I'm a closet choreographer! I've danced in so many movies. I make up all my own steps. I used to do a half-split! What are you thinking about?”
This movie is about working-class Queens. What was your least glamorous NYC job? “Waitress. But really I worked in a retirement home. That was tough. That was a dirty job.”
—F. Murray Abraham
What was your least glamorous job?
“I was 17 and working as a hostess at the Brasserie. I worked the graveyard shift in 1978, so people would come in from Regine's really fucked up on cocaine at four in the morning.”
—John Patrick Shanley
How's your singing?
“Not very good. John picked the worst takes. He said, ‘if you were too good, it wouldn't make any sense that you only sing in the backyard in Queens.’”
The publicist just handed you a bag. What's in it? “Is this underwear? I love sexy underwear. I think I have some on right now. Want to see?”
