Screening of ‘Thor’ Hosted by the Cinema Society & Acura

AMC 19th Street and Top of the Standard. April 28, 2011. By Shira Levine

We heard you were a bit appalled by how much Chris Hemsworth bulked up to play Thor? “At one point, he just started getting wider. He was as wide as Los Angeles and had absolutely no neck left. It seemed like every time I turned around someone was bringing him pasta or a basket of chicken.” —KENNETH BRANAGH

DIANNA AGRON

What superhero were you in the Baldwin family? “I was really, really into Superman. I made the swords and stuff and beat the heck out of my sister Jane. My brother Daniel would come along then and hit me with a lacrosse stick.” —STEPHEN BALDWIN

SUSAN SARANDON

Did you like the film? “I find action movies boring, but this one was surprisingly good. I think it helped that Thor was so hot.” —GABOUREY SIDIBE

GABRIEL BASSO

Were you a comic-book nerd as a kid? “Yes, and I liked Thor specifically. In the comic book, he uses a walking cane, and he would strike his cane on the ground and it would become a hammer and he’d become Thor. So growing up, I would do that around the house and destroy the flooring.” —SCOTT ADSIT

JENNA USHKOWITZ AND KEVIN MCHALE

Were you into superheroes growing up? “They may not technically be superheroes, but I was a huge Ninja Turtle fan. I grew up on those turtles.” —AMAR’E STOUDEMIRE

PAULINA PORIZKOVA

Who was your favorite superhero growing up? “Superman, because he was strong and could fly.” —HENRIK LUNDQVIST

CHORD OVERSTREET

Have you noticed how lately most of the actors cast as superheroes haven’t been American? “I think we probably come cheaper than Americans, so there maybe is a budgetary advantage to hiring all of us.” —CHRIS HEMSWORTH
