Amnesty International’s Secret Policeman’s Ball

Radio City Music Hall. March 4, 2012. By Jennifer Vineyard

Do you feel it’s a little tricky to exercise free speech when you’re a celeb, that you have to censor yourself so as not to alienate fans? “Yeah. We live in a time where you’re one tweet away from ruining your life. That’s why I don’t have a Twitter account.” —BOBBY MOYNIHAN

LIAM NEESON

Since tonight is about free speech, what is your favorite swear word? Fuck. I just like it, and it annoys people, and I was brought up as a middle-class wanker with middle-class people, and it really annoyed them. They said I showed a lack of vocabulary, but it’s an increase of vocabulary, because I also know all the swear words in French.” —EDDIE IZZARD

JASON SUDEIKIS

What’s your favorite swear word? “Probably cockfuck. I always like terms. ‘Fuck your dickhole’ is a favorite of mine, used mostly while playing video games.” —TARAN KILLAM

RACHEL DRATCH

Can you remember a time you exercised your right to free speech? “There was one time in college, where somebody dared me to speak out to a professor who was horrible. So I stood up and yelled, ‘You suck!’ I don’t even remember which class. That says a lot about my college experience, that I don’t even remember which class that I yelled at the professor.” —HANNIBAL BURESS

REGGIE WATTS

Since tonight’s all about free speech, what’s your favorite swear word? “I’m going to go with cunt, because I feel like it does what all good swear words should do, which is hit a nerve. And it tastes delicious.” —CHRIS O’DOWD (Neilson Barnard/Getty Images for Amnesty International)

ALEXI ASHE AND SETH MEYERS

Favorite swear word? “I don’t swear! [Grins mischievously.]” —RASHIDA JONES

NAZANIN BONIADI

How long did it take you to perfect your Jay-Z impression? “I would say three years, and I’m still working on it. There’s still stuff I can learn even today, now that he has this kid. The way he holds his girl up, I’m probably going to be impersonating that, like Nants ingonyama.” —JAY PHAROAH
