On their last tour, the collaborators behind the animated musical act Gorillaz—who present themselves in videos and interviews as a band of cartoon characters—teamed up for a series of concerts where they performed anonymously, behind giant screens. This time around, though, audience members lucky enough to have scored tickets will see the band’s special-guest collaborators (Blur’s Damon Albarn, De La Soul, Ike Turner, Roots Manuva, and many others, all of whom pop up on Gorillaz’s album Demon Days) in full view, as the cartoon personae remain safely at home.
