Blue Zoo
8402 Third Ave., at 84th St., Bay Ridge; 718-833-5414
For a delightfully South Brooklyn night out, complete with gelled hair, tube tops, and just enough A Night at the Roxbury posturing, haul down to Bay Ridge. Blue Zoo’s slightly out-of-time-and-place décor—tribal masks, neon fish glowing from a massive tank behind the bar—is kind of charming when you’re this far from the Manhattan-Brooklyn snark zone. Don’t be put off by the velvet-roped line of wannabe revelers, either—it’s worth the wait on weekends to be part of such an enthusiastic crowd of bump-and-grinders.
