Maggie C’s party at Country Club
248 W. 14th St., nr. Eighth Ave.; 212-367-0822
Not since the nineties-era Clit Club has the meatpacking district been a destination spot for the Sapphic set. That changed in December when lesbian-party promoter Maggie Collier secured a home at Country Club for Eden, her upscale, glamazon-packed Wednesday-night gathering. As with all of her weekly parties, like Stiletto and Starlette, Maggie C’s Eden draws a particularly stunning crowd of twenty- and thirtysomethings, many of whom are still in their work clothes (note: No sneakers allowed). Because it’s a school night, there’s no need to appear fashionably late: People turn up soon after the 8 p.m. start time, and things begin to wind down soon after midnight.
