The owners of Smith Street’s Bar Great Harry have pulled off an imaginative feat with their new indoor-outdoor oasis in the Park Slope–Gowanus hinterlands. They converted the innards of a mechanic’s garage into an open-air courtyard that’s perfect for summer (it’s shielded from the noise and exhaust of Fourth Avenue by a shadowy entryway), then turned the glass-ceilinged bar in the rear into a shrine to esoteric craft beers like Dogfish Head Burton Baton and Flying Dog Brewery Raging Bitch IPA (both $7). Tack on a killer Bloody Mary and a laissez-faire attitude toward dog leashes, baby strollers, overflowing ash trays, and pizza-delivery boxes, and you have the Platonic ideal of a neighborhood beer garden.
