Black Horse Pub
568 Fifth Ave., at 16th St., Park Slope 718-788-1975
Like its soccer-mad cross-borough competition, Woodwork in Prospect Heights, Black Horse Pub’s exposed brick and dangling lights suggest gentrified Brooklyn more than working-class London. But Black Horse’s British-expat owner Brian McNally (brother of Keith) keeps his homeland firmly in mind with framed Clash posters and three TVs (soon four) tuned to footie matches as early as 7 a.m. (a full English breakfast awaits weekend early risers). Naturally, the sixteen taps include slow-poured Guinness and Old Speckled Hen, but there are also estimable domestics (Smuttynose, Sixpoint) and excellent prices—all pints cost $5.
