ñ/BK
81 Washington St., nr. York St., Dumbo 718-228-9880
To the list of drinking establishments with unusual entrances (see PDT, BEast, and Back Room), add Ñ/BK. The welcome new Dumbo outpost of the popular, shoebox-size Soho tapas bar is accessed via an unmarked door in the takeout area of the restaurant Rice. The dimly lit basement, formerly Speak Low, may lack its city counterpart’s charmingly ramshackle décor (except for a vintage typewriter in the bathroom, there’s hardly any to speak of), but it has the same small-plates menus as its Manhattan counterpart. It’s budget-friendly, too: The house sangria ($24 for a pitcher, or about six servings) and an order of croquetas ($5.50 each) are a classic—and delicious—pairing.
