Borrowing a page or three from the ever-popular “speak-queria” La Esquina, this bar–taco shop from the crew behind Spitzer’s Corner pairs an upstairs restaurant with a “secret” catacomb of subterranean party dens. Enter the first dimly lit, cobblestoned chamber, and you meet the night’s entertainment: 150 tequilas obsessively assembled by Spitzer’s alums like GM Scott Reed, whose stated mission is to reverse every drinker’s “one bad tequila memory.” Indeed, the homemade sour mix is a far cry from treacly margarita sweeteners—it’s a refreshing blend of organic raw agave nectar and fresh-squeezed lime and orange juices that lets the top-shelf tequila do most of the talking.
