Ellen B. Holtzman

A Leader in Matrimonial and Family Law

Ellen Holtzman’s law practice has earned a reputation for success in all aspects of family law, from pre- and post-nuptial agreements, divorce and major asset distribution, child support cases to child relocation actions, and grandparents’ rights. Ellen also takes on more complex cases, such as interstate child custody disputes, parental kidnapping, and cases involving domestic violence. Ellen builds relationships of trust with each client, understanding their priorities and concerns, and advocating persuasively and effectively on their behalf, whether at the negotiating table or in the courtroom. Several of Ellen’s trials have set legal precedents in New York, and she is known for her success in the Appellate Court as well.

Of course, Ellen’s goal is always to help her clients resolve their cases out of court and, wherever possible, she advises her clients to avoid the cost and acrimony of a trial. She and Meryl Neuren, her skilled associate, are experienced in the collaborative law divorce process, a popular alternative for couples who agree to divorce without litigation. Ellen devotes time to advancing her profession, too. She is a past president of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, and currently serves as a Commissioner on the New York State Legislative Ethics Commission.
