Senior partners Richard A. Gurfein and Preston J. Douglas of the firm Gurfein Douglas have over 75 years of combined experience in handling personal injury, medical malpractice and work-related injury cases. With their respective backgrounds in engineering and biochemistry, they have the expertise required to communicate to a jury the complex principles of engineering and science that are often involved in serious accidents.
The firm has a history of significant recoveries, including a recent $7.4 million settlement on behalf of a 60-year-old woman who became paralyzed in both legs and one arm after her doctors failed to diagnose an infection in her spine. Gurfein and Douglas have also secured hundreds of multimillion-dollar recoveries for their clients over the course of their legal practices.
Over the years, the attorneys at Gurfein Douglas have received recognition for their quality representation. Both Gurfein and Douglas have been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers annually since 2007. Gurfein is also past-President of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, while Douglas is the current Editor-in-Chief of the New York Litigation Review.
