Kramer, Dillof, Livingston & Moore

For more than 50 years, Kramer, Dillof, Livingston & Moore has provided dedicated representation to victims of medical malpractice, negligence, wrongful death, and personal injury. With a thorough and selective approach to the litigation process, the firm has been able to achieve significant victories for its clients, helping them to rebuild their lives after devastating negligence and injuries.

“The most rewarding part of this profession is getting our clients the justice that we believe they deserve in terms of monetary damages,” says senior partner Judith A. Livingston. “It’s very gratifying that all of the work we do from the inception of a case to its conclusion restores hope and dignity to those most deserving.”

Livingston and her husband, senior partner Thomas A. Moore, have won more than 117 jury verdicts in excess of $1 million, and hundreds of settlements in the millions of dollars. In May 2012, Moore secured the largest medical malpractice verdict in New York State, a $120 million verdict on behalf of a 37-year-old woman left brain damaged by negligence at Brooklyn and Bronx hospitals. Another recent top verdict was by Livingston for $7.6 million on behalf of the family of a man who died after New York Hospital Queens delayed his operation. Moore achieved a $40.9 million verdict for a construction worker left brain damaged and partially paralyzed after being struck by a Verizon truck, and the case was recently affirmed on appeal with reduced damages for a total award of $11.438 million.

“We are very selective about the cases we take on, because that allows us to provide the best representation and achieve the greatest results,” Moore notes. “No stone goes unturned in our pursuit of justice.”

Livingston and Moore are both members of the Inner Circle of Advocates—an elite group of the top 100 trial attorneys in the country—with Livingston being the first woman and youngest person ever invited to join the prestigious group. They have also been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America and New York Super Lawyers.

In 2011, Livingston was named Best Lawyers Lawyer of the Year in the New York metropolitan area for medical malpractice law. Most recently, Law Dragon named her a “legal legend,” acknowledging her prowess in medical malpractice and personal injury cases and recognizing her as “one of the most sought-after and effective plaintiff-side trial lawyers.”

Moore, meanwhile, has earned a reputation as one of the most successful trial attorneys in the United States. He has received The National Law Journal’s Lawyer of the Year honor twice, and was recently praised by Law Dragon as a “magnificent advocate” for plaintiffs in negligence and malpractice cases. This year, he was named Best Lawyers Lawyer of the Year in the New York metropolitan area for plaintiffs’ personal injury litigation.

In addition to winning money for their clients, the firm’s attorneys are very active in achieving fair and just laws for personal injury victims. The firm also participates in a number of charities, including the Judges and Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert—for which Livingston previously served as co-President—and Women Who Care. Most recently, the firm has been dedicated to the building of a self-sustaining hospital in Ecuador. Both Moore and Livingston remain actively involved at their respective alma maters, Fordham Law School and Hofstra Law School.

“Bringing dignity back to the lives of those from whom dignity was taken is very rewarding,” Livingston says. Moore adds: “We see every case as an opportunity to ensure that the court system works and that people are provided with the resources they need to put their lives back together.”
