Bathgate, Wegener & Wolf is a full-service law firm dedicated to providing excellent legal services to its clients. The Firm has been AV® Preeminent™ rated by Martindale-Hubbell® for more than 25 years. “We’ve become known for offering the same high quality professional services as many larger firms without sacrificing our personalized focus and attention,” notes managing partner Lawrence E. Bathgate, II.
The Firm is both national and international in scope, with clients that include corporations and government entities. Currently, the Firm’s well-regarded complex litigation group is co-counsel in a matter before the United States Court of Federal Claims in Washington, representing a Florida-based corporation in an action against the U.S. Department of Defense. Also, in 2012 the Firm was selected by the State of New Jersey to represent the Attorney General and Department of the Treasury, Division of Investments, as Special Counsel representing the State in connection with securities fraud litigation.
The Firm is well-known for providing excellent and comprehensive expertise in a full range of legal areas, including its highly regarded condemnation practice. “Condemnation is somewhat of a niche area, and our senior partner, Peter H. Wegener, has developed a statewide reputation for his excellence in the practice, securing significant jury verdicts all over the State of New Jersey,” Bathgate says.
In March 2012, the State Appellate Division upheld two of Wegener’s jury verdicts. A jury verdict of $375,000 in a case where a town in southern Ocean County had offered $300 for a piece of land (more than 1,250 times the offering price); and a jury verdict of $5.25 million in a case where a municipality in Bergen County had offered $1.1 million for the property (more than five times the offering price).
Located in Lakewood, New Jersey, the Firm is the largest and one of the oldest in Ocean County, with more than four decades of dedicated service to its clients.
