Over its more than 25-year history, Gersowitz Libo & Korek, PC has become known for its relentless pursuit of justice. In the past 10 years alone the firm has won more than $250 million for its clients, solidifying its reputation as one of the leading personal injury practices in New York and New Jersey.

“Our personal service and powerful resources ensure that our clients are never at a disadvantage,” says partner Jeff S. Korek. “We’re willing to fight the hard fight so that our clients receive just compensation.”

Recently, the firm successfully resolved a lengthy, complex case involving a New York University student who was injured in a fire. In addition, the firm will soon be trying two of its most challenging cases: one involving a 2006 Bronx River Parkway crash in which six people died and another involving the Pelham Bay Landfill over claims that the site caused cancer in children.

The firm has also secured a number of significant results in New Jersey, including a $7.7 million settlement in a medical malpractice lawsuit and a $14 million result for a college student who suffered brain damage when a school bus ran a red light and hit her car.

“By focusing on substantial personal injury and medical malpractice claims we have been able to provide clients with the hands-on attention that their cases require,” notes partner Edward H. Gersowitz.

Recognizing this track record, Gersowitz Libo & Korek, PC was ranked Tier 1 this year in New York City for plaintiffs’ personal injury litigation by U.S. News—Best Lawyers “Best Law Firms.” The firm is also a member of the Leaders Forum of the American Association for Justice and includes attorneys who have been AV Preeminent® rated by Martindale-Hubbell® and named in New York Super Lawyers and The Best Lawyers in America.

Jeff S. Korek is a past-President of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association (NYSTLA) and the New York City Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has been appointed by the Appellate Division of the State Supreme Court, Second Judicial Department, to the Committee on Character and Fitness for the Ninth Judicial District.

Edward H. Gersowitz serves on the Judiciary Screening Committee of the New York City Bar Association and is the First Vice President of the NYSTLA.

Partner Michael A. Fruhling, meanwhile, sits on the Board of Governors for the New Jersey Association for Justice and the Legal Advisory Board for The Sarah Jane Brain Project.

The firm’s skilled associates include Matthew Wurgaft, who formerly worked as a law clerk to the Honorable Dennis F. Carey, III, the presiding civil judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex County, and Michael Zisser, who graduated cum laude from Hofstra University School Law School and was a member of the Hofstra Law Review and President and Editor-in-Chief of the Moot Court Board.

To give back to the community, Gersowitz Libo & Korek, PC acts as the title sponsor for the Gardiner Memorial Basketball Classic Tournament. In addition, the firm’s partners recently attended an invitation-only gathering with former President William J. Clinton to discuss The Clinton Foundation and The Clinton Global Initiative.
