In founding the family and matrimonial law firm Coffinas & Lusthaus, attorneys Maria Coffinas and Meredith Lusthaus sought to establish a results-oriented boutique firm that emphasized client satisfaction.

The firm has developed an impressive record of success since its inception in 1997, with both Coffinas and Lusthaus creating legal precedent in their field. In a landmark case, Coffinas established the legal principle that children should have independent counsel at court proceedings concerning their custody arrangements. Lusthaus established precedent in multiyear, multistate litigation concerning division of assets following a foreign judgment of divorce; seeing her client finally receive and enjoy the monies he was due was a highlight of her career.
