Martin Clearwater & Bell LLP has established its reputation with the bench and bar for its defense of New York’s premier teaching hospitals and physicians in high exposure, complex cases in many practice areas. The Firm’s success over the last 100 years reflects the depth of experience and talent of its partnership. Women make up almost 20% of the MCB partnership and have been responsible for helping to shape the law in New York through the Appellate Courts, developing the Firm’s electronic discovery practice and defending clients in a variety of courts and tribunals. Senior Partner Rosaleen T. McCrory, resident in the Firm’s Nassau County office, has almost 25 years of experience successfully defending doctors, hospitals and nursing homes. She has been instrumental in developing and implementing case management databases for litigation matters. Senior Partner Nancy J. Block in addition to handling malpractice cases, leads a team of attorneys in the production of E-discovery in large scale litigation and handles complex multi-party federal and state litigation. Partner Barbara D. Goldberg heads the Firm’s Appellate Department and is well known for her appellate expertise in high exposure and complex cases. She has handled hundreds of significant motions and appeals and is noted for several important decisions in medical malpractice, negligence, workers compensation and labor law. Partners Laurie A. Annunziato, Geri B. Horenstein and Jacqueline D. Berger focus their practice on the defense of medical malpractice and professional liability cases for many of the Firm’s largest clients.

MCB is unique in the defense of medical malpractice cases because of the Firm’s attorneys who have superior trial skills and exceptional knowledge of the underlying medical and legal principles and procedures. The level of experience and dedication to clients by all partners translates into consistent jury trial and appellate successes and accurate and realistic analyses of risk assessment. The Firm works to anticipate aggressive discovery tactics and formulate a proactive defense in each case. MCB’s extensive experience in defending traditional medical malpractice claims has led to its prominence in the defense of nursing home and long-term care facilities and Health Care Law. The Firm’s practice also extends to other types of professional liability cases. MCB assists physician groups in developing comprehensive risk management policies, and provides representation to address their professional legal needs.
