Ellen B. Holtzman is one of New York’s leading attorneys in the area of matrimonial and family law. During more than 30 years of family law practice, Ellen has gained a reputation for success in the full range of matrimonial and child custody matters, including complex interstate and relocation cases. She has prevailed in trials that have set legal precedents. A thought leader and sought-after speaker on the many intricate aspects of family law and child custody, Ellen has presented at the American Psychoanalytic Association’s “Psychoanalysis and the Law” Group, and at symposia for psychiatrists, psychologists, attorneys, and members of the judiciary on the present status of the important concept of “the best interest of the child.”

In her private practice, Ellen Holtzman represents men and women throughout the New York metropolitan area. She and her talented associate, Meryl Neuren, make time to contribute to the advancement of the profession. Ms. Neuren currently serves as the President of the Rockland County Women’s Bar Association. Ellen is a past president of theWomen’s Bar Association of the State of New York and currently serves as a Commissioner on the New York State Legislative Ethics Commission. Ellen is also the director of legal training for the innovative Family Law and Forensics Program at the Washington Square Institute in New York City. In addition to lectures on legal ethics, her pro bono work includes mentoring young lawyers who represent battered women in divorce cases.
