Blue Chip Blues

Last week’s rally notwithstanding, the recent months have been tough on what ought to be the safest stocks on Wall Street— the 30 components of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, a.k.a. the “blue-chip index.” As their once firm prices dip, is the notion of blue chips defunct?
