FEATURES Home of the Brave BY CHRIS SMITH Firefighter Howie Scott was about to step into Tower Two when it began to collapse. He ran, in a hailstorm of glass and concrete and girders, and dove under a walkway. When he came up he learned that he'd lost not only many of his buddies but the man the guys called "God," for his omnipotence in the midst of chaos. Rebuilding his company -- it lost seven firefighters -- and the department itself will be at least as difficult as rebuilding the towers.
