Red Ball Window Cleaning
221 East 85th Street
212-861-7686
Unless you share Spider-Man's wall-clinging ability, you're not too likely to risk life and limb scrubbing the grime collecting on your tenth-floor-apartment windows. The family-run Red Ball Window Cleaning has been in the business (and the same location) since 1928, with a primary focus on residential work. Rates depend on the size and location of the job, and the condition of the windows, and range from $8 per window on the Upper East Side to $10 for the West Side and lower Manhattan. Carol Clark, who took over Red Ball from her husband and his father before him, says most of her clients have been with her for years: "They're like family. I know everything about them, and they know they can depend on me." If you're looking to get the winter filth off your windows anytime soon, make sure to call a few days in advance; Clark says spring is the busiest time of the year.
