A pink-and-purple-neon-lit lounge that recently hosted Paris Hilton’s 3 A.M. perfume launch party isn’t the most obvious place for a corporate shindig. The 29 beds far outnumber banquettes, there’s an 800-gallon jellyfish tank, and the unisex bathrooms have one-way-mirrored stall doors (you see out). Then it hits you: The gimmicks are perfect ice-breakers. Hierarchy vanishes as you get supine with co-workers, while the CEO shuffles from bed to bar in matching terry-cloth slippers (there are drawers in the beds for your purses and shoes). Wallflowers can hide by the D.J. in the smaller room downstairs and watch colleagues mingle on twenty flat screens playing a live feed of the party above. Is that the marketing director hitting on the new intern?
