JANOS P. SPITZER FLOORING
131 W. 24th St.

Spitzer—trained in his native Hungary as a wooden-carriage-maker—shifted his skills to floors 40 years ago when he came to the States. Today, his company lays exquisite (and expensive) parquet, strip, and plank floors, and also does repairs; sanding and refinishing a mechanically nailed floor is pricey, though, at about $5 per square foot.
