Your luggage has never been so stressed out. It has to fend off heavy-handed airport scrutiny, financially strapped carriers, and eagle-eyed rip-off artists circling the baggage claim, looking for sucker tourists whose logo’d suitcases shout “I’m rich! Rob me!” So even though they’ve been a fixture of the travel world since 1947, T. Anthony’s hard-wearing canvas bags with their contrast leather trim have never made so much sense. The fabric has enough give to allow for the inevitable overpacking, yet it withstands all kinds of abuse and comes out looking ruggedly weathered instead of beaten down. A leather lozenge allows for a discreet monogram. There’s lots of smart interior design (pockets, interior dividers), and the numerous styles come in plenty of colors—bright blue, cardinal red, brown—to differentiate it from all the ubiquitous black wheelies tumbling down the carrousel.
