Fifth Annual NYC International Pickle Day Festival
Calling the kimchi-crazed, the full-sour-besotted, and anyone else
who finds himself on the Lower East Side this weekend: On October 2, Orchard Street between Houston and Stanton turns into Pickle Central as New York’s multitudinous ethnic groups demonstrate
their pickling chops and offer free samples of everything that can be preserved in brine,
from okra to mangoes. Prepare to be
enlightened about fermentation, home canning, and whether there really is any discernible difference between Guss and the neighboring Pickle Guys.
