I only have room here to say that there are ravishments to be found in the legendary Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke, set in a mythic fourteenth century where forest creatures and demons and humans war against a wash of exquisite watercolor vistas. Utilizing traditional hand-drawn cels and some computer-generated imagery, Miyazaki brings out the animism in this emerald vision and gives it a spaciousness rarely found even in live-action epics.
