Not another reality-TV makeover show!
No, F/X’s Nip/Tuck is a new drama/
satire about two Miami plastic surgeons that is
appealing/appalling. Among other virtues, it’s
not afraid to show butt implants—being inserted.
Perhaps I’ll cancel that appointment with Dr.
Brandt.
Is the program always this, um, graphic? Yes. But
it’s also got such satisfyingly tawdry
story lines. Meet Randi and Mandi, identical teenage
twins who want to look very different. Then
there’s the teenage son of one of the doctors:
He wants to be circumcised (“It looks like a
shar-pei!” his girlfriend says as they prepare
to have sex for the first time. “Maybe we should
just make out tonight”).
