Last week’s Angel Ball to benefit the G&P Foundation for Cancer Research raised $3.3 million and drew Stevie Wonder, Nelly, Russell Simmons, Kelly Ripa, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, and one apparently pissed-off Joan Collins. According to another guest, the staff of hostess Denise Rich followed standard benefit protocol by sitting a celeb, Collins, at the table of one of the night’s biggest donors, the royal family of Abu Dhabi. The only problem was that no one told Collins whom she was sitting with, nor that they’d just donated $1 million to Rich’s cause. The witness says Collins sulked throughout the night, ignored her tablemates, and left immediately after delivering her speech. Luckily, the royal family seemed less intent on meeting Collins than simply meeting a celebrity, any celebrity. Lorraine Bracco chatted with them, and the night was saved. Collins’s rep said that Collins thought she’d be sitting with Ivana Trump and Dennis Basso.
