With her bold, colorful designs for homes, stores, and boutique hotels like Avalon and Estrella, decorator Kelly Wearstler has nudged her native Los Angeles toward a luxe playfulness that’s equal parts historic reference and sleek modernism. For Bergdorf Goodman’s new seventh-floor restaurant, BG (her East Coast debut), Wearstler “wanted to create a sense of going from one room to the next in someone’s home.” She painted the space in cool blues and greens with black accents and added hand-painted de Gournay chinoiserie wallpaper and low-slung eighteenth-century-style chairs for post-shopping comfort (754 Fifth Ave., at 58th St.; 212-872-8977).
