This fall, you’re going to see a lot of discs and coins in jewelry
designs. I’m ahead of that game, with a collection of 12th century
Roman coins my uncle found around Sebastia, that were made into a
gorgeous necklace by Federico DeVera. If you (a) don’t have an uncle in
the Sebastia area or (b) aren’t friends with Federico DeVera, you can
get the next best real thing from Behnaz Sarafpour. The fashion
designer has introduced a collection of three necklaces, all made with
Arabian coins. This one is the most elaborate, but there are simpler
ones that start at $250.
By special order (I love that, since it means not many people will have these!) at 212-242-2343.
