My last pair of rain boots was old enough to be Bar Mitzvah’d. When they finally tore, I was faced with the not-as-easy-as-I-thought-task of replacing them. Just like my last pair, they had to be durable but still fashionable, chic but not trendy. What I found was my new favorite pair of shoes—Hunter classic wellies imported from Scotland. Handmade with rubber and canvas, the boots have a striking shape that looks great over slim pants, and they come in blue, black, green, red, and pink (the only color that isn’t also available for men). But here’s the best part: Besides being fashion forward, these wellies also work as snow boots—just throw a pair of thick socks underneath and stomp the streets in style.
