With all the
hype about the new blockbuster products from Applethe
$99 iPod, the $500 Mac Minione of my favorite recent
Apple releases has gotten lost in the shuffle: the iPod
Sock Set. If you've got an iPod, you know how easily
they get scratched up. A huge number of vendors have been
making iPod sleeves and cases for years, but once again
Apple has perfected a niche with its own clever, brilliantly
simple design. These frankly adorable sock-like sleeves
come in multiple hues (grey, orange, pink, blue, green,
and purple) so you can color-coordinate with your, well,
actual socks. Unlike a lot of hard plastic iPod cases,
the cushy ribbed fabric offers your iPod (or iPod Mini)
a little protection from bumps and drops. And the multi-colored
set come prepackaged in a boxed six-packbecause
those gentle geniuses at Apple know that we're forever
losing our socks.
$29 at the Apple Store, 103 Prince St., at Greene St., 212-226-3126, apple.com.
