A lot of guys I know don't think to take care of their skin because they don't have a zillion product choices like women do. And the men's skincare stuff that is out there can tend to be a little too fancy and pretentious, not to mention scarce (most are available only at department stores) for your average guy to consider buying or using regularly. That's why I like the new L'Oreal Men's Expert line. It's got basic guy's-guy appeal: Straightforward packaging that's not overdesigned, self-explanatory product names (e.g., Power Buff Anti-Roughness Exfoliator), and a light scent that just smells clean, not obnoxiously manly or Old Spicey. And the line is very affordable and available at drugstores. I particularly like the non-greasy Men's Expert Stop Lines Anti-Lines Moisturizer With SPF 15 Sunscreen. Ever since I wrote a profile of a skin-cancer patient a few years back (who, sadly, succumbed to the disease after a brutal fight), I've been totally conscious of the fact that way too many men are forgoing basic protection (wearing an everyday moisturizer with SPF) that a lot of women automatically build into their skincare routines.
$6.99-$10.49 at CVS, but watch for other drugstores to add the line this fall.
