My friend Dana calls these Shrimpton jeans from Ben Sherman “the skinny jeans,” but I know better—they’re tapered, and therefore, pariahs of the denim world. At least, that’s what I thought until I wore them with a too-long tank top and a pair of boots—all of a sudden, they switched from “the jeans that made me an eighth grade outcast” to “the jeans that make me hot.” Sewn with dark stretch denim, the jeans look best with heels or boots and can be worn ironically—think piles of eighties-Madonna bangles and a ripped sweatshirt—or with a long, slimming top for a more modern look.
