Dr. Seuss never goes out of style, but when you’re sick of speaking to children in rhyming couplets, relax: there’s a new tome that might be music to your ears. The Book of Rock Stars is a huge, gorgeous kid’s book full of giant portraits of classic rockers, from Elvis to Kurt Cobain. Inspired by stained glass windows and woodcut prints, the pictures take up full pages, while mini-biographies of each musician lie next to their subject. Plenty of adults might want this book for their own nightstand, but as an actual kid’s book, it can teach younger children about rock ‘n roll, and help older ones understand life before Jessica Simpson—a lesson as valuable as any The Lorax can teach us.
