I've been silhouette-mad since seeing artist Kara Walker's life-size cutouts of plantation scenes at the Whitney Biennial a few years back. I still can't afford any of HER works, but in the meantime, these gorgeous, super-inexpensive plastic trays decorated with silhouettes of swamp scenes and lazy Southern afternoons are more than acceptable surrogates (and they fit a lot better in my apartment). They're perfect for everything from serving cocktails at parties to transporting Chinese takeout for one to the couch.
$20-$30 at Handmade New York, 150A W. 10th St., 212-924-6410, handmadenyc.com.
