About 13 years ago, a Feng Shui master told me I should move out of my apartment because it had bad feng shui. I told him, “This is a rent stabilized studio in Chelsea with southern exposure. I’m going nowhere.” Needless to say, I’ve never been a big believer. But recently a friend gave me this Feng Shui desk set. I liked that the shapes were small, modern white and would blend in with the Jonathan Adler pieces I already had, so I figured why not? Can I just say that in the two weeks since I arranged the dragon, phoenix and tiger as the package instructed, I have had a lot of offers—writing assignments, to speak at functions—including one that, if it works out, will be my dream come true—taking the photographs that would accompany one of my travel articles. Is it the desk set? Is it the Saturn transit? I don’t know, but I’m not taking any chances. The set stays.
