Pop quiz: Name a New York rock band that launched in London, then came back to their home turf to become superstars. You might be thinking the Strokes or Scissor Sisters, but there’s a newer answer that should be on your radar: We Are Scientists. The Brooklyn-based band currently rules U.K. radios, but last week, their debut album, With Love and Squalor, hit American shelves. True to their name, their sound is a calculated blend of pop and rock, with razor-sharp lyrics and beats that won’t leave your head. Their first single, “Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt,” is already a dance-floor favorite downtown and should be hitting American airwaves with annoying frequency in the near future. Don’t you want to say you loved them first?
