Eskandar aims to make a splash in the Village with 4,000 square feet of store (33 E. 10th St., nr. University Pl.; 212-533-4200)—a big undertaking for anyone, let alone a London-based designer’s first U.S. outlet. There’s not much for sale in the rustic, airy space—just the kind of simple, loose-fitting designs favored by mature, monied minimalists. Blue linen pin-striped suits are $940, and there are home furnishings from French antique flea markets, all-natural bath products ($9 to $65), and accessories.
And Metropolitan Window Fashions (469 Amsterdam Ave., nr. 82nd St.; 212-501-8282) stocks thousands of discounted high-quality fabrics from the likes of Ralph Lauren ($11 to $58 per yard), Laura Ashley, and Waverly. In-home consultations are provided at no charge.
Closing: Nicole Miller’s Soho store (134 Prince St., nr. Wooster St.) will shut its doors on February 14.
