What’s your look?
I would say Goth Victoriana Governess. Sometimes I look kind of “Mommy drinks.”

Who inspires you?
My favorite style of anyone in the world is the really skinny woman named Margaret [Margit Carstensen] in all of Fassbinder’s films.

Why’s that?
She’s just really, really skinny! I love her. And I love Charlotte Rampling, but the Charlotte Rampling of the seventies.

Where did you get this outfit?
The coat is vintage—I bought it at Niagara Falls Family Thrift. The T-shirt is Rogan, and the jeans are by Loomstate, made from organic cotton. You can get both of them at Steven Alan. My shoes are Christian Louboutin. And I’m wearing Dolce & Gabbana socks with roses on them. I have a passion for Dolce & Gabbana and Missoni socks. Also, I have on vintage Christian icons by Miracle Icons. You can get them at Barneys.

How long has your hair been platinum?
Two years in January. Andre at Orlando Pita salon colors it. Mark Townsend, celebrity hairstylist extraordinaire, cuts it. He’s from L.A., but when he comes to town for the Olsen twins, he stops by my house.

What made you do it?
I cut my hair way too short and didn’t feel cute, so I thought if I bleached it white, I’d look like Madonna on the cover of the True Blue album.

Do people treat you differently now?
When I travel for work—last week I was in Wisconsin—people stare. And when I have roots, people uptown think I’m dirty. They’re not so nice to me in shops and restaurants, because I look Courtney Love–ish.

What are you doing for the holidays this year?
Home to Pennsylvania. My dad cooks, and on Thanksgiving everyone wears weird hats. I bought a cheese hat in Wisconsin.

What do you want for Christmas?
Thorn earrings from Ted Muehling, and some Victorian mourning jewelry from Doyle & Doyle. Last year, my boyfriend gave me a still from Lansing-Dreiden’s “A Sectioned Beam” video, and that was the best present ever.

What are you giving?
I can’t tell!
