The Look for Less

It's not inexpensive but it's the real thing: Eero Aarnio's Ball Chair ($3,950) is still in production and can be test-driven at Gallery M2L (215 East 58th Street, second floor; 212-832-8222).

This bilevel table by Hothouse Design is similar in feeling to White's flea-market find (see photo below). $450 at Foundation (329 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn; 718-403-9757).

Mohawk Home's black-and-white zebra-pattern five-by-eight-foot rug mimics the one on Vargas's floor. It's $249 (800-553-1734).

Thomas Paul's silk throw pillows feature thirteen different mod designs, in a choice of twelve color combinations, all at a modest price. $60 each at Amalgamated Home (9 Christopher Street; 212-255-4160).

The Maharam brothers are reproducing funky fabrics by Alexander Girard and Verner Panton. The collection is $75 to $85 a yard at Moss (146 Greene Street; 212-226-2190 or www.mossonline.com).
